Garden City, N.Y. - The 2018-19 Adelphi University athletics promotional calendar will kick off in sweet fashion on Tuesday night, as volleyball hosts its season opener on 'Soft Serve' Night.
This season, the athletic department will sponsor a giveaway at eight home contests this fall across the four fall sports which compete on campus: men's and women's soccer, field hockey and volleyball. This expands on the traditional promotions which have highlighted the basketball season in past years, while this year's basketball calendar will feature seven promotional dates which will be unveiled later this month.
The first 250 students in attendance at Tuesday night's home opener will receive Mr. Softee, compliments of the Center for Student Involvement in a color-changing, AU-branded plastic cup.Â
Adelphi-branded sunglasses are the giveaway for the first 100 fans in attendance at women's soccer's non-conference contest on Motamed Field against regional foe Bridgeport on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m., while the 100 fans to arrive at Motamed for field hockey's game against LIU Post on Oct. 9 and men's soccer's contest against Le Moyne on Oct. 23 will receive an Adelphi coaster.
If you missed chance to grab a color-changing cup, make sure you're one of the first 100 fans for men's soccer's matchup against Southern Conn. State on Oct. 10, as they will be given away again on that date. Volleyball will have its second giveaway - an Adelphi magnet - for the first 200 fans in attendance for the team's match against longtime Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9.
The fall promotional calendar will wrap up the regular season for women's soccer and field hockey, respectively, on Oct. 27 and Oct. 31. The first 100 fans through the gates for women's soccer vs. Assumption on Senior Day will receive a tote bag, while color-changing cups will appear for the final time this fall for the first 100 to arrive at field hockey's Halloween game vs. Merrimack at 6 p.m.
