Garden City, N.Y. – With an 11
th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance on the line, Head Coach
Danielle MacKnight is ready to release another difficult schedule for the Adelphi University volleyball program slated for this upcoming fall.
The squad went 20-13 overall and 9-5 in conference play in 2016, marking the eighth season of 20 or more wins since 2006.
"The team and the staff are looking forward to getting back on the court," commented MacKnight. "We have a large group of incoming student-athletes who we will look to fill the voids of our graduated class and make an immediate impact."
The Panthers are scheduled to play 11 matches on the road before opening up at home on Friday, Sept. 22. The 2017 slate starts with a west coast tour hosted by Cal State San Marcos, followed by a tournament featuring regional foes the following weekend at Wilmington University. League play starts for the Brown and Gold when they take on the College of Saint Rose on Sept.16 as a part of a tri-match hosted in Albany, N.Y.
The first contest of the season to be played in the Center for Recreation and Sports is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22 at 3:30 p.m. To conclude the opening home stand Adelphi will also take on non-conference opponent Dominican College and Northeast-10 rival Assumption College.
A road match at the defending NE10 Champions, University of New Haven, highlights October as the Chargers finished last year at 20-9 (11-3 NE10) with a semifinal appearance in the East Region tournament. In addition to the bulk of conference play, the Panthers start and end the month with a regional non-conference opponent in LIU Post on Oct. 3 and NYIT on Oct. 31.
The last three home games in the regular season start off November with Chestnut Hill up first, followed by back-to-back NE10 contests against Merrimack (11/3) and Southern Connecticut State (11/7). Closing out the regular season, Adelphi travels to Massachusetts to take on Stonehill College and Bentley University with the hope of earning a bid to the conference tournament, which starts Tuesday, Nov. 14.
