Roslyn, N.Y. -- The Northeast-10 champion Adelphi University women's tennis team was back in action to begin the spring on Sunday, and the Panthers won their seventh straight match on the season over the Molloy College Lions, 8-1.
Adelphi (12-4)Â dropped just three games across doubles play en route to the sweep, led by an 8-0 win for
Elizabeth Kallenberg and
Samantha Perri at No. 2.
Vanja Savic and newcomer
Daniella Cattabiani partnered for an 8-2 win at No. 3, while
Rebecca Fakas and
Karen Serina rounded out the victories at No. 1, 8-2.
Fakas had the toughest test of the day for the Panthers in singles against graduate student Alyssa Migliorini, who had played Division I tennis at Sacred Heart, but it was the Adelphi junior who got the better of the match in a marathon tiebreak, 6-3, 6-7(7), 13-11. Kallenberg dropped two games to win at No. 3, while Perri, Savic and Cattabani wrapped up the match with pro set wins, to cap Cattabiani's first match as a Panther.
