Surprise, Ariz. — The Adelphi women's tennis team punched its ticket to the final 16 of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament after a 4-2 win over Jefferson last week, earning the No. 16 seed in the tournament. The Panthers will head to Surprise, Arizona, to take on the No. 1 seed, Mississippi College.

Adelphi currently holds an 18-5 record, earning both the Northeast 10 regular-season and Northeast 10 Championship titles. Featuring the NE10 Player and Coach of the Year in Katarina Liedbeck and Rebecca Fakas, respectively, it marks the first time in program history that the Brown and Gold have reached the national tournament.

Mississippi College earned the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament after upsetting the then No. 1 ranked team in the nation-Barry University in the NCAA South Regional Final. The Choctaws currently hold a 25-1 record.

The first-round match is set for Tuesday, May 19, at 9 a.m. local time (11 a.m. EST) at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex. Winners advance to quarterfinal action the following day (Wednesday, May 20).
