Garden City, N.Y. -- The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will commence the 2017-18 basketball season with its annual Midnight Madness event on Friday, Oct. 20 at the Center for Recreation and Sport.

Doors are scheduled to open at 10:15 pm with free admission with the event starting at 10:45 pm. The night features performances from the Adelphi University dance team, the Bhangra dance team, cheer team, hip hop team, and Bollywood dance team.

Following the performances, the 2017-18 Panther men's and women's basketball teams and coaches will be introduced to the crowd, and compete in skills challenges to cap the evening.

For the fans in attendance, there will be t-shirt giveaways, and opportunities to win an iPad, a pair of Beats headphones, a $250 gift card to the Adelphi bookstore, and Amazon and restaurant gift cards, among other prizes. 

The first home game for both the men's and women's team will take place on Saturday, Nov.18 in the Center for Recreation and Sport against the University of New Haven.

Women's tip off time is 1:30 pm followed by the men's team at 3:30 pm. The double-header will also feature Adelphi's first promotional giveaway of the season, AU-branded tech pockets.
