Garden City, N.Y. -- Four members of the Adelphi University men's soccer team were honored with selection to the the 2016 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America team, as announced on Wednesday.

Alejandro Penzini was the lone member of the Brown and Gold selected to the First Team, while Spenser Powell was a Second Team honoree and Federico De Oliveira and Emil Thomsen rounded out Adephi's selections, earning inclusion on the Third Team.

Penzini and Thomsen helped anchor an Adelphi defense that currently ranks second in the nation in shutout percentage and fourth in team goals against average. The duo was also awarded Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team honors for their performance this season, and were D2CCA All-Region performers.

NE-10 Player of the Year De Oliveira in the midfield and goalkeeper Powell were both All-Conference and D2CCA All-Region selections. De Oliveira was third on the team in points with 17 (5G, 7A) and led the Panthers in game winning goals with four, including the game-winner in Adelphi's 4-0 Regional Championship victory against LIU Post. Powell turned in a stellar season in net and is currently fourth in the nation in goals against average (0.498) and second in save percentage, stopping 86.8% off all shots on goal.

Adelphi closed out a historic season in the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals, tying the University of Charleston, 2-2 on a late comeback, but failing to advance on penalty kicks. Overall, the Panthers captured the program's first Regional Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals for the fourth time team history, joining the 1973, 1974 and 1975 teams. The Brown and Gold also set program standards for wins in a season with 19 and set a new unbeaten streak, which currently stands at 21 games and counting.
