Women's Hoops Set to Host NCAA East Regional Tournament, First Round This Friday

Indianapolis, IN - After winning the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Championship earlier Sunday afternoon, the No. 11 Adelphi University women's basketball program learned that they will host the NCAA East Regional Tournament, announced in an online selection show at NCAA.com. Adelphi was one of four Northeast-10 Conference members to make the eight-team field.

The Panthers, who won the program's first NE-10 Championship title and improved to 28-3 overall, will host eighth-seeded Holy Family University (20-10) on Friday, March 13 in the Center for Recreation and Sports, lcoated on the campus of Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y.

The University of New Haven (23-5) earned the second seed and will face seventh-seeded Philadelphia University (22-8), who earned the at-large bid coming out of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. 

Earning the third-seed in this year's East Regional is the District of Columbia (25-4), who will face sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce (18-10), who advanced to this year's NE-10 semifinals. Coming in at the fourth-seed is Stonehill College (22-4) facing the fifth-seeded Knights of Queens College (22-7) in NCAA first round action this Friday. 

Both semifinal games will be played on Saturday, March 14, with the regional title game scheduled for Monday, March 16.

#3-#6 winner vs. #2-#7 winner 5:00 pm
#1-#8 winner vs. #4-#5 winner, 7:30 pm

CHAMPIONSHIP – MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2014, 7:00 pm

The regional champions will advance to the NCAA Women's Elite Eight March 24, 25 and 27 at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Sioux Falls Sports Authority will host the Elite Eight.
