Pleasantville, NY – The Adelphi University women's volleyball picked up its third sweep in four matches as well as a sixth straight victory behind tonight's 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-14) win at Northeast-10 Conference host Pace earlier this evening.
Senior
Haley Blunt posted a line of 12 kills with a .435 hitting percentage along with six digs to lead the Panthers (6-9/4-0 NE-10). Sophomore
Mandy Stanislovaitis added nine kills on .350 hitting percentage while senior
Kaitlyn DeStefano rode a .538 hitting percentage to eight kills. The Brown and Gold as a group notched a .416 hitting percentage.
Two individuals accumulated seven kills each for Pace (3-10/0-3 NE-10) as Alyssa Marchino and Samantha Marquez shared the team-high. Marchino added five digs while Marquez swung for a.385 percentage.
The Panther attack was in full force during the opening set as the group racked up 18 kills with Blunt and
Shelby Stoner each contributing five.
Alayna Jackson helped set up the offense with 17 assists and help the Brown and Gold to a .552 hitting percentage in the 25-17 win.
Four service errors from Pace helped Adelphi to another 25-17 victory in game two as Stanislovaitis took the lead in kills with four. The team finished with a .333 hitting percentage, however, three straight errors from the Setters supplied the final tallies needed for the Panther win.
The service and defensive aspects of the match took more of a role in game three for the Panthers as the squad put forth five services aces and totaled 3.0 blocks that helped force nine attacking errors from Pace. Adelphi's attack needed just 10 kills in the set with a .333 hitting percentage.
"The offense played really well this evening," said Head Coach
Danielle MacKnight. "Prior to Tuesday's non-conference match at a strong NYIT team, we want to continue improvement on the defensive side of the net."
The Panthers play the last of three straight road matches with Tuesday's 7:00 pm start time at NYIT.
