Alaska, AK - The Adelphi University volleyball team closed out day one action at the SpringHill Invitational on Friday, September 7 against the host institution Alaska Anchorage at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. The Panthers fell in straight sets to the Seawolves, 3-0 and the loss dropped Adelphi's record to 3-3.

Colleen Raga led the Panther offense with seven kills, while Emily Droko chipped in four and Haley Blunt and Bree Popham had seven digs each. Katie Bryson was tops on the team in assists with 11 and both Blunt and Alexandra Kahen had a service ace.

Adelphi dropped games one and two to the hosts by scores of 25-16 and 25-9 and the third game started out with UAA jumping out to a 7-2 lead. However, the Panthers fought back, using a 9-3 run to take their first lead of the game, 11-10 on a Seawolf attack error. UAA bounced back, pushing out to a 16-12 advantage and Adelphi battled back again, knotting the game at 19 on another Seawolf miscue. But, in the end UAA came out on top, closing out the game and the match with a 25-22 victory.

The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, September 8 when they take on Dixie State at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
