Box Score Lowell, MA - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Lowell, Massachusetts for the first of two straight road games against Northeast-10 opponent the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. The Panthers and Riverhawks were knotted at one when Adelphi took control and the last two games to pick up a 3-1 win (25-16, 20-25, 25-20, 25-14). With the win Adelphi runs their current win streak to five games, improving to 15-8 overall and remaining unbeaten in NE-10 at 6-0.
Chelsea Overholt led four Panthers with double figure kills, collecting 13, while
Haley Blunt had 12, Smantha Rico added 11 and
Kaitlyn DeStefano chipped in 10.
Katie Bryson had a team high 39 set assists, while
Bianca Hernandez led all players with 14 digs.
The Panthers picked up a 25-16 win in the first game, but the host Riverhawks rallied in the second game, knotting the contest at one all with a 25-20 triumph. However, Adelphi turned the tables in the third game with a 25-20 win of their own and closed out the conference contest with a resounding 25-14 game four decision.
Adelphi won the offensive battle, posting 54 kills to Umass-Lowell's, 33 and posted a stellar attack percentage of 0.327 while the Riverhawks hit the ball at a clip of 0.114, thanks to 10 total Panther blocks. Defensively, Adelphi was also the better team, digging a total of 51 balls, while the host came up with just 36 digs.
The Brown and Gold return to action at 6:00 pm on Saturday, October 20 when they travel to North Andover, Massachusetts to face Merrimack College.
