The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Easton, Massachusetts on Friday, October 21 for the first night of a two-day road trip, taking on Northeast-10 rival Stonehill College. The Panthers fought hard, dropping the first two games by a combined five points, before falling 25-14 in the third, losing the game and the match. With the loss Adelphi falls to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in conference, while Stonehill improves to 22-3 and 10-0.

Adelphi was led by junior middle blocker/right-side hitter Samantha Rico, who posted a .556 hitting percentage on six kills (team-high). Junior outside hitter Chelsea Overholt compiled five kills and a team-high 13 digs while sophomore setter Katie Bryson initiated the Panthers attack with 21 assists.

Stonehill jumped on Adelphi early in game one, leading 20-13 late in the game. However, the Panthers clawed their way back into the game, using a 10-4 run to pull within one point, 24-23, before falling 25-23. The Skyhawks moved out to an early lead in game two, 7-2, but the Brown and Gold again battled back, getting within one, 7-6 on an Alexandra Kahen service ace.

Game two would remain tight from there as Adelphi knotted the score at 15, 16, 17 and 20 and for the final time at 21 on a Skyhawk error. Unfortunately, the Panthers ran out of steam in game two, as Stonehill closed the game on a 4-2 run to take the victory, 25-22. The third game was more of the same, as Stonehill moved out to another lead early, 9-3, however the closest Adelphi would get the rest of the way was 13-8, eventually falling 25-14.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 22 when they travel to Waltham, Massachusetts to take on Bentley University.
