Johnstown, Pa. - Behind a five-under-par final round, the Adelphi University men's golf team climbed the leaderboard to finish tied for eighth at the Sunnehanna Intercollegiate, hosted at Sunnehanna Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Brown and Gold finished the three-round tournament at +22, posting rounds of +16, +11 and -5, respectively. The Panthers shared eighth place with Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), finishing two strokes behind seventh-place Wheeling and six strokes ahead of tenth-place California (Pa.).

Adelphi's final-round marked a 16-stroke improvement from Monday's second round, as all five Panthers carded rounds of 71 or better to close out the tournament.

Sophomores Zeus Sara and Mitchell Archer led the way for Adelphi, finishing in a tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard at +3.

Sara opened the tournament with a +2 (72) before recording a +5 (75) in the second round. The sophomore bounced back in the final round, firing a four-under-par 66, highlighted by five birdies, including three over his opening six holes. Sara made the turn at three-under before adding two more birdies on the back nine to close out the tournament.

Archer followed closely behind, posting rounds of +3 (73), +2 (72) and -2 (68). His final-round performance featured four birdies, including one on the 18th hole to finish two-under on the day and secure a share of 13th place alongside Sara.

Ahaan Dhir and Ike Rothman each finished tied for 51st at +9.

After opening the tournament with a +8 (78), Dhir improved by seven strokes in the second round, carding a +1 (71), before closing out the event with an even-par 70. His final round featured an eagle on the par-five 11th hole and three additional birdies.

Rothman remained consistent throughout the tournament, posting rounds of +5 (75), +3 (73) and +1 (71). The junior saved his best round for last, improving by two strokes from Monday's second round.

Head coach David Mattana and the Panthers will look to build on their strong final-round performance when they return to action on Monday, Oct. 12, at the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Post University. The two-day tournament will take place at Watertown Country Club in Watertown, Conn.
