Springfield, Mass. - A pair of fourth-quarter goals lifted the Adelphi University field hockey team to a 2-1 comeback victory over American International College on Wednesday afternoon. After trailing 1-0 entering the final quarter, Emily Souke found the back of the cage to even the contest before Lana Mignon De Wet converted on a penalty stroke just over a minute later to give the Panthers the lead for good. The victory extends Adelphi's winning streak to three games.

How it Happened:

• The Panthers controlled much of the attack in the opening half, outshooting AIC, 10-5, but neither side was able to break through as the contest went into halftime scoreless.
• De Wet recorded three shots in the opening 30 minutes, while Geels put Adelphi's other first-half shot on goal.
• AIC broke the scoreless tie in the 41st minute, converting off a penalty corner giving the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
• The Brown and Gold responded with pressure late in the third quarter, generating three shots over the final two minutes, but entered the fourth trailing by one.
• Adelphi found the equalizer less than three minutes into the fourth. Following a penalty corner, Beakes connected with Souke, who found the back of the cage in the 48th minute to even the score at 1-1.
• Just 80 seconds later, the Panthers earned a penalty stroke and De Wet stepped up to convert, giving Adelphi its first lead of the afternoon at 2-1. For De Wet, it is her eighth goal of the season.
• Adelphi continued to apply pressure after taking the lead, recording five more shots over the remainder of the contest.
• AIC earned a pair of penalty corners in the final three minutes, but Szmak made a save with 2:44 remaining before the Adelphi defense turned away the Yellow Jackets' final push to secure the 2-1 victory.
