Garden City, N.Y. – Head coach Chris Megaloudis and the Adelphi men's soccer team opened conference play on Saturday night when they hosted last year's Northeast 10 regular-season champion, Bentley.

Series History:

• Adelphi (2-3-2, 0-1-0 NE10) is now 8-3-5 against Bentley since October 2013. The last matchup between the NE10 foes was in the conference semifinal last season, where the Falcons advanced 4-2 on penalty kicks.

Highlights:

• Enrico Cesarini Sforza led Adelphi in shots on goal with two.
• Matthew Murphy, Edoardo Aramini, Finn Turner, Tyler Dwyer and Chris Simonian all recorded at least one shot.
• Andrea Farinella made two saves.

How It Happened:

• The match got off to a slow start, with Bentley recording the first five shots in the opening 20 minutes.
• Adelphi tallied its first shot from Cesarini Sforza in the 25th minute, but it was stopped by the Bentley keeper.
• Dwyer and Aramini both had great chances at goal just minutes later, but their shots sailed wide.
• The final minutes of the first half saw some changes in possession as the teams went into the break evenly matched. Both the Panthers and Falcons had six shots and three corners.
• Coming out of the half, Simonian and Dwyer had good looks to break the deadlock, but neither found the back of the net.
• After a substitution, a cross and then a header put the ball on the foot of Bentley's Owen MacKinnon. MacKinnon placed a perfect shot into the bottom-right corner to beat Farinella and put the Falcons up 1-0.
• Adelphi tried to push forward, but Bentley played the possession game and thwarted a majority of the Panther attack.
• Turner had the best chance for Adelphi, but his shot was saved.
• Bentley ran the clock down and went home with a 1-0 win.

• The Adelphi men's soccer team will be back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when it heads up to take on AIC in Springfield, Mass.
