Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Adelphi University field hockey team broke into the win column in commanding fashion Wednesday afternoon, defeating Mercy University, 10-1, to secure Margaret Maclean's first victory as head coach. The Panthers found the back of the cage six times in the opening half and never looked back, as Lana Mignon De Wet recorded a hat trick and seven different Panthers scored in the victory.

How it Happened:
- Adelphi wasted little time getting on the board, as Leclair opened the scoring just 1:11 into the contest to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage. Off a penalty corner, De Wet sent a long shot toward the cage, which Leclair redirected past the Mercy goalkeeper.
- Just over three minutes later, De Wet doubled the lead off an assist from Beakes, sending the Panthers into the second quarter ahead 2-0.
- The Brown and Gold exploded for four goals in the second period. Smith started the run at the 18:13 mark, scoring the first goal of her collegiate career off a feed from van Aardt.
- De Wet struck again less than four minutes later for her second of the afternoon, before Geels and Flores scored just over two minutes apart to send Adelphi into halftime with a commanding 6-0 lead.
- The Panthers continued to apply pressure coming out of the break. De Wet completed the hat trick in the third quarter, before van Aardt found the back of the cage less than two minutes later to extend the advantage to 8-0.
- Smith added her second goal of the afternoon early in the fourth quarter, finishing off a pass from Souke to make it 9-0.
- Mercy broke up the shutout with under 10 minutes remaining in the game, but the Panthers answered before the final whistle, as Souke found the back of the cage to cap off the commanding victory.
