Adelphi University Athletics

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Through 90 minutes of action the Adelphi University men's soccer team ultimately played to a scoreless draw on Saturday, as they took on Molloy University. 

Series History: 

• This marks the second consecutive tie in series history, as the Brown and Gold entered the match with nine straight victories against Molloy, dating back to the 2013 season. 
• Last year, the teams also finished a scoreless contest on Motamed Field. 

Highlights: 

• The Panthers controlled the attacking chances, finishing with a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
• Adelphi generated four shots on target, with Robin Jaaskelainen, Samuel Wraith, Maximilian Mann and Arik Landau each forcing saves from Molloy goalkeeper Callum Hunt.
• Andrea Farinella anchored the Panthers defensively, playing all 90 minutes and making one save - as the defense only allowed seven shots overall - to preserve the shutout.

How It Happened: 

• Right away, the Panthers (1-2-2) were awarded a corner kick, taken by Cristian Escobar, but nothing materialized. 
• Robin JaasKelainen landed the visiting team's first shot on goal just six minutes later, but it was swallowed up by Hunt. Adelphi used another attempt at goal from Wraith in the 15th minute off his head, but Hunt was determined to keep a clean sheet.
• Over 30 minutes ticked off the clock before Molloy managed anything in their offensive end, but it resulted in a blocked shot. A series of shots from both sides were produced over the ensuing 10 minutes, but nothing to break the stalemate. 
•  The first 10 minutes of the second half seemed promising as the Panthers were awarded a pair of corner kicks and saw attempts at the cage from Finn Turner and Matthew Murphy, but both landed off target. 
• Another series of shots came beyond the 75th minute but Hunt only needed to stop one. 
• A final header attempt from the Lions could have been the gamewinner in the final minute, but it flew high.
