Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi women's soccer team wrapped up the Adelphi Kick-Off Tournament with its first win of the season, a 2-1 victory over nearby rival Molloy.

Series History:

• Adelphi (1-0-1, 0-0-0 NE10) moves to 12-1 against the Lions since 2002. Now on a seven-game winning streak against Molloy, the Panthers' last matchup with the Lions was a rain-shortened 2-1 victory in which Kara DeBlaiso and Gia Mandile found the back of the net.

Highlights:

• Kayleigh Goodrich scored her second goal of the season on a highlight-reel free kick from well outside the box.
• Adela Odindo scored her first goal in an Adelphi uniform, the would-be game-winner in the 72nd minute.
• Julianna Violi and Sophia Cataldo each assisted on Odindo's goal.
• Maddy Catalanotti made four saves.

How It Happened:

• Goodrich fired a shot in the first 30 seconds of the match, setting the tone for Adelphi's offense.
• While the Panthers held most of the possession and outshot the Lions, 8-2, Molloy's keeper kept Adelphi off the scoreboard.
• With less than a minute left in the opening half, Goodrich lined up for a free kick about 40 yards from the net. The senior dialed up an absolute firecracker and found the back of the net for a 1-0 Panther lead.
• Molloy put pressure on Adelphi in the early going of the second half, taking five shots before the Panthers recorded one.
• But that was all Adelphi needed as it took a 2-0 lead. Off a throw-in from Violi in the 72nd minute, Cataldo sent a perfect pass through the box that Odindo buried in the back of the net.
• Adelphi almost extended its lead to three, but a penalty kick from Goodrich was stoned by the Molloy keeper.
• The Lions got on the board in the 89th minute, but they did not have enough time for an equalizer as Adelphi earned its first win of the season, 2-1.
