Garden City, N.Y. – In its second game of the Adelphi Kick-Off Tournament, the Adelphi men's soccer team took on RV Post at Motamed Field.

Series History:

• Adelphi (0-2, 0-0 NE10) is now 2-3-2 against the Eagles since 2019. The last matchup was a 1-1 draw on September 7, 2024.

Highlights:

• Enrico Cesarini Sforza scored his first career goal in the match.
• Andrea Farinella made four saves.
• Robin Jaaskelainen and Cristian Escobar made their first starts as Panthers.

How It Happened:

• A methodical start to the game saw three shots by Post in the first 15 minutes, but it was Adelphi that got on the board first.
• Given a free kick just inside midfield, Augustin Soldo crossed a ball that ricocheted off a Post defender and to the foot of Cesarini Sforza. Without taking a touch, the senior fired a shot past the goalkeeper for a 1-0 Panther lead.
• The Eagles turned up the pressure on Adelphi's backline, but the Panthers stood tall and kept their advantage heading into the break.
• Adelphi had two early chances with shots by Cesarini Sforza and Tyler Dwyer, but could not extend its lead.
• Post made five substitutions, shaking up its lineup, and with continued pressure on the Panther defense, it worked.
• The Eagles tied the game in the 79th minute after a poor shot attempt pinballed around the box and found an open Marcos Rodriguez, who evened the score.
• Both teams began to push forward in the final 10 minutes, but once again, it was Post that found the back of the net.
• In similar fashion to its first goal, the ball was knocked around Adelphi's box until the Eagles capitalized, getting a shot past Farinella.
• Finn Turner and Cesarini Sforza had excellent chances in the final minutes to score on headers, but neither found the net and Adelphi fell, 2-1.
