Ramos' Walk-Off Grand Slam Caps Off Baseball's Sweep of AIC

Game 1: Adelphi 5, American International 2 (F/7)
Highlights:

  • Tyler Bonsignore turned in the best start of his young career, going six innings, walking none and allowing only two runs on three hits while striking out a career-high five batters.
  • The Adelphi offense mustered only two hits from Johnny Catuosco and Anthony Rigogliosi, but scored five runs and drew nine walks.

How It Happened:

  • In game one of the afternoon, AIC got on the board first with a two-run home run in just the second at-bat of the game.
  • Adelphi got one back after Zach DeMilt was hit by a pitch and Catuosco moved him over with an opposite-field single.
  • After a balk moved the runners over, Michael Robinson drove in DeMilt with a sacrifice fly.
  • The second inning saw the Panthers take the lead. After two walks and a hit by pitch, Rigogliosi came through with a two-RBI single up the middle to put Adelphi up 3-2.
  • The home team extended its lead after some good baserunning by Erick Duignan, as an AIC throwing error made the score 4-2.
  • Adelphi tacked on another run in the bottom of the third courtesy of a Giancarlo Rengifo RBI groundout.
  • The bats were quiet after the third inning, as Bonsignore allowed only one hit following the first-inning home run and Michael Tufo closed out the 5-2 win.

  • AIC got a run back in the top of the second after a trio of base hits, then jumped on starter Ari Gluck for three runs in the top of the fourth after a solo home run and a two-run shot.
  • After two scoreless innings, Adelphi threatened with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, but was only able to score one run on a DeMilt RBI single.
