Garden City, N.Y. — The Adelphi women's tennis team clinched an undefeated Northeast 10 regular season title on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-0 victory over Bentley.
The Panthers started off strong, sweeping doubles play. Katarina Liedbeck and Roisin Boyd won 6-3, while the teams of Oda Solevag Halvorsen and Zuzanna Witkowska, as well as Genesis Beltran and Sara Lindeman, were each victorious, 6-2.
Boyd, slotted as the Panthers' No. 2, earned the first singles point for Adelphi in a 6-1, 6-1 win. Witkowska, the reigning NE10 Player of the Week, was not far behind with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Beltran and Kayla Castellano did not lose a game, as both Cats won 6-0, 6-0. Matilda Buchen was victorious, 6-1, 6-1, and Lindeman capped off the 7-0 Adelphi win with a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the No. 3 flight.
Earning the No. 1 seed in the Northeast 10 Championship, head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Panthers will await the winner of No. 4 Franklin Pierce and No. 5 Saint Anselm in the conference semifinals on Monday at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing.
