Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi men's tennis team was back in action on Saturday afternoon for a Northeast 10 tilt with Saint Michael's. Before the match began, Louca Bertone, Viktor Hockl and Thomas Horsley were honored on Senior Day.
Adelphi got off to a roaring start, as all three doubles teams won 6-2 to earn the first point of the day.
Andrea Albiero and Viktor Hockl def. Viktor Boban and Garrett Brooker, 6-2
Thomas Horsley and Louca Bertone def. Simon Lundholm and Jamie Macpherson, 6-2
Spyridon Papageorgiou and Leo Silverston def. Ferm Koppelmand and Richard Lin, 6-2
The Panthers carried their momentum into singles play, as Albiero started it off with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. Hockl was close behind with a 6-3, 6-1 victory, and Bertone was dominant in the No. 1 flight, winning 6-4, 6-0. Papageorgiou earned a 6-3, 6-4 win, Arturo Beitman won in two sets, 6-2, 6-3, and Horsley wrapped up Senior Day with a 6-0, 4-6, 10-7 victory.
Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team will be back on the courts Monday at 3 p.m. to take on regional foe St. Thomas Aquinas.
