Garden City, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi women's tennis team were back on the court on Monday afternoon to host #40 Jefferson in regional action.
In the doubles portion of the day, it was the nationally ranked duo of Katarina Liedbeck and Roisin Boyd that recorded the first victory, a 6-3 win in the No. 1 flight. Sara Lindeman and Genesis Beltran then earned the crucial first point of the match with a 6-3 win of their own.
Jefferson quickly knotted up the score at one apiece with a victory in the No. 1 singles match, but Zuzanna Witkowska gave the Panthers the lead once again with a 6-1, 6-3 win as the Adelphi No. 2.
The battle for points continued, but with the match tied at 2-2, Boyd (6-3, 5-7, 6-3) and Beltran (6-0, 6-1) picked up important wins in the No. 3 and No. 6 flights to give Adelphi the victory.
The Adelphi women's tennis team will return on Wednesday when the Cats travel to #48 Wilmington (Del.) for another regional test.
