Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Faceoff Unit Highlights #1 Men's Lax 19-6 Win at #17 Assumption

Worcester, Mass. - A five-goal first quarter was all no. 1 Adelphi University men's lacrosse needed en route to a 19-6 victory at no. 17 Assumption on Saturday to remain undefeated in 2026.

Series History:
  • Saturday's victory keeps Adelphi undefeated against the Greyhounds, dating back to the 2010 season, when the Panthers joined the conference. The all-time record stands at 16-0 in favor of Adelphi.
Highlights:
  • At the faceoff X, William Greaves put together a 12-for-16 performance with six ground balls. Kyle Stark and Ries Bower both picked up a pair of wins inside the circle, combining for four ground balls.
  • Danny Fisenne and Michael Durnin put up identical numbers, each accounting for six points following a three-goal, three-assist afternoon.
  • Noah Gibson finished as the team's leading scorer, netting four goals with one helper.
  • Kyle Lewis also accounted for a hat trick - just his second of the season.
  • Christian Tomei picked up the win after grabbing seven saves and allowing just six goals, and Thomas Gentile's performance of seven saves in the last 12 minutes was duly as impressive.
How It Happened:
  • After the home team scored the opening goal, Adelphi rattled off five unanswered to make it 5-1 at the conclusion of the first. Gibson netted a pair in the strech and Vincent McDermott capped the run.
  • The Greyhounds fought back in throughout the second, stopping the offensive pressure of Adelphi's attack by flipping the script and outscoring the top-team in Division II, 3-1. Assumption won all four faceoffs to be in a scoring position, which allowed them to cut the deficit to two at the halftime break.
  • The third quarter was all Adelphi as the visiting team poured in eight straight goals to make it a ten-goal game after 45 minutes of action. Assumption got in the last tally of the frame, but by that point, the margin was too great to overcome.
  • Vincent McCabe got the Cats on the board in the early going of the fourth when Luke Mackin tossed him the ball to keep the advantage to 10 goals. Mackin added his own goal four minutes later and then he followed it up with another assist for a three-point frame.
  • Scoring last for the Cats was Ryan Woodland, who took a feed from Jeremiah Griffths for the team's 19th of the contest.
Hear from the Coach Catalanotti:
  • "Our practices are often just as demanding as the games themselves, and that preparation was the key to today's victory. We're staying locked in and looking forward to the next one!"
Up Next:
  • Adelphi will head to no. 5 Pace for an NE10 matchup starting at 7:00 p.m.
