Oceanside, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the No. 25 ranked Adelphi men's tennis team returned to the courts on Wednesday afternoon for a match with the University of Findlay.
The doubles portion of the match was tightly contested, but the Oilers got the better of the Panthers' No. 3 pairing to apply early pressure. Andrea Albiero and Viktor Hockl came through with a 7-6 (7-2) tiebreak victory to even the score against Findlay, but Thomas Horsley and Louca Bertone dropped a nailbiter, 6-7 (4-7), as the Oilers claimed the opening point.
Spyridon Papageorgiou tried to build momentum for Adelphi, taking the first singles match of the day, 6-3, 6-3. The visitors then earned wins in the No. 1 and No. 6 flights to regain a two-point lead.
Andrea Albiero impressed in a 6-1, 6-4 victory in his No. 4 match, but that would be the final point for the Panthers as they fell, 5-2.
The Adelphi men's tennis team will be back in action when it travels to take on the University of the District of Columbia on Monday at 10 a.m.
