How it happened:

  • The Panthers' offense got off to a fast start, with Klepper drilling a double to right-center to bring Jaylen Wright home in the top of the first.
  • Two innings later, Klepper recorded her second double of the game, this time beating the left fielder and bringing home Ellen Tarjan and Emma Priest. Later that inning, Amanda Chavarria plated Klepper, and Wagner followed by driving in Chavarria to give the Cats a five-run lead.
  • Bridgeport responded in the third, getting on the board with a ground ball to the left side to bring home Hailey Smith.
  • In the fifth, the Purple Knights cut the lead to just two, taking advantage of an error by the Brown and Gold, along with a single from Lacie Grenier to bring two runs across.
  • The Panthers broke things open in the sixth, as the offense put together five hits, highlighted by doubles from Meyer and McCarthy to put the game out of reach. Lily Kenney came out of the pen and held the hosts scoreless en route to the win.
