Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi baseball team opened up Northeast 10 play on Saturday afternoon when it hosted Saint Anselm at William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. The Panthers won an absolutely wild game in the first game of the doubleheader, but the Hawks got the best of the home team in game two.
Series History:
- Adelphi (4-6, 1-1 NE10) now moves to 14-9 against Saint Anselm since March 2009.
- The last matchups between the two teams were a split doubleheader at the end of the 2025 season in Manchester.

- John Carver had an excellent start. The senior earned his second win in a row, striking out 10 and allowing only one run on three hits.
- Johnny Catuosco was a key offensive cog, going 5-for-6 from the plate with four RBI, including the game-winning run on his walk-off single in the ninth.
- Michael Robinson hit a pinch-hit, game-tying home run in the ninth to keep the Panthers alive.
- Bryan McCleary had a 3-for-4 day in the cleanup spot, driving in three runs and scoring two.
- 'Zach DeMilt was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two walks and scored a team-high five runs, including the game-winner.
How It Happened:
- The Panthers got on the board first in the bottom of the second courtesy of a Duignan sacrifice bunt.

- The nine runs came from two Catuosco singles, a Bohne two-RBI single, a Ramos RBI groundout, two McCleary singles and a Carway single.
- Saint Anselm's lone run off Carver came in the top of the fifth after a double, a walk, a wild pitch and a single. The starter settled down and escaped the inning relatively unscathed.
- Colin Richardson pitched a scoreless sixth, but in the seventh and eighth innings, the Hawks got to the Panther bullpen.
- A seven-run seventh followed by a four-run eighth suddenly saw Saint Anselm lead 12-11.
- Adelphi could not respond in the bottom of the eighth, but Michael Tufo kept the Hawks scoreless in the ninth to give the Brown and Gold a chance to either tie or win it.
- Robinson led off the bottom of the ninth and delivered a pinch-hit solo home run to right field to tie the game at 12.
- DeMilt delivered a one-out single to get the dugout on its feet. L.J. Bohne was then hit by a pitch to set the stage for Catuosco. On the second pitch he saw from the Saint Anselm reliever, the left fielder hit a single to left-center field to walk it off, 13-12, for the Panthers.
