Garden City, N.Y. - In its final home game of the regular season, the Adelphi University women's basketball team took a 38-47 decision at the hands of #17 Bentley University on Saturday afternoon, inside the Center for Recreation and Sports.
Series History:
- Adelphi is 7-18 all-time against Bentley, dating back to the 2005 season.
- In the last 10 matchups, the Panthers have earned three victories, including being the Falcons only regular season loss in the 2024-25 season.
Highlights:
- Christina Sanchez and Victoria Morales both finished with a team-leading 11 points apiece combining for seven rebounds and six steals.
- Gamila Betton was the only other player in double-figures, capping her double-double performance with 10 rebounds to boot.
- Adelphi (12-12, 6-11 NE10) outscored the Falcons 12-9 in the final 15 minutes of action.
How It Happened:
- After holding a brief lead courtesy of a Morales free throw, Bentley (20-3, 16-1 NE10) closed out the frame with an 8-4 scoring run to hold a three point advantage. Morales scored five of her 11 in the opening frame and coming off the bench as a reserve.
- The Falcons got hot in the second frame, landing 55.6 percent of their shots from the floor, using an 11-2 run over the first five minutes to jump out to a 12 point lead. Adelphi was held to just six points in the half after taking no trips to the free throw line. The visitors doubled the Panthers' percentage from the field in the first half of the contest.
- A few spurts of offense from Adelphi saw the game stay within single digits, however Bentley managed to work out to a 14-point lead, with 2:33 left in the third. The Panthers were competitive as Sanchez posted a team-leading seven of Adelphi's 11, while the Falcons scored 12.
- The final quarter was spent playing catch-up, as Cherish Bryant saw a lay-in that made it a 15-point margin, but Adelphi used the final three minutes to put together an 8-2 run to make it a single digit game.
- With the chance for the last shot of the contest, Sanchez took her final three-pointer inside the Center for Recreation and Sports, and landed it at the buzzer.
