Oceanside, N.Y. — The Adelphi University women's tennis team returned to the courts for the first time in 2026, welcoming Division I Stony Brook University to the Point Set Tennis Center.
The Panthers' star pairing of
Katarina Liedbeck and
Roisin Boyd continued to impress, knocking off the Seawolves' No. 1 pairing, 6-4. The No. 2 and 3 doubles teams of
Sara Lindeman and
Genesis Beltran, along with
Zuzanna Witkowska and newcomer
Kayla Castellano, battled but both ultimately fell, 5-7.
Stony Brook got the best of Adelphi in singles play, taking the final three points to win the match, but the Brown and Gold battled. Boyd won her match after a retirement, while Liedbeck and Oda Solveag Halvorsen both went three sets. Castellano and Lindeman played well in their matches, but both went unfinished as Stony Brook had already clinched the match.
Head coach
Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi women's tennis team will return to the court on Saturday when they head up to Saint Michael's to begin Northeast 10 Conference play. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
