Box Score Colchester, Vt. —After starting its season with a tough task in Stony Brook, the Adelphi women's tennis team went on the road Saturday morning to take on Saint Michael's in conference play.
The pairing of
Kayla Castellano and
Matilda Buchen tried to set the tone for Adelphi, winning their doubles match 6-3, but the Purple Knights got the better of the Panthers in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches to earn the first point of the day.
Roisin Boyd bounced back, dominating her No. 3 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Saint Michael's won the No. 4 match to go back up 2-1, but
Zuzanna Witkowska was not far behind, as she won her match 6-3, 6-1 to tie it at 2-2.
Castellano carried her success over from doubles play to win the No. 5 flight 6-3, 6-1, and
Katarina Liedbeck sealed the win for the Panthers with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Sara Lindeman put the cherry on top with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 6 match.
Head coach
Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi women's tennis team will return to the courts on Friday when they host St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:30 p.m. in Oceanside.
