Queens, N.Y. — After starting off the spring with a victory on Tuesday night, the Adelphi men's tennis team had a quick turnaround when it took on Division I St. John's Wednesday morning.
The Red Storm jumped out to an early lead, taking the first two doubles matches to earn a point. Louca Bertone and Thomas Horsley were up 5-4 when their match was stopped due to the point already being won.
Bertone continued his hot streak of play, knocking off the Red Storm's No. 2 in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Andrea Albiero was impressive in his No. 3 match, also earning a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
St. John's won the remaining four matches, all in just two sets to earn a 5-3 win.
Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Panthers will be back on the courts to pick up conference play when they travel to Saint Michael's on Saturday. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
