#2 Women's Lacrosse Topped by #21 Florida Tech in Double OT

Melbourne, Fla. - Coming down to the first possession of the second overtime period, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse program suffered defeat at no. 21 Florida Tech on Tuesday evening, 13-12.

Series History:
  • Tuesday's matchup marked just the second meeting all-time between the pair of Panther teams - with Adelphi winning the first matchup in 2019.
Highlights:  How It Happened:
  • An early foul for the home team put Mclam on the arc for her first free position attempt in an Adelphi uniform. She converted it for the first goal of the 2026 campaign. Florida Tech saw the equalizer land over six minutes later, but Adelphi closed out the opening quarter on a 3-1 run to hold on to a two-goal lead.
  • After scoring the first of the second frame, the Panthers from the north saw it offense go cold, as the hosts got hot, scoring three in a matter of three minutes to knot the game at 5-all.
  • Mclam notched her second of the contest to regain the lead for the visiting team,  heading into the halftime break.
  • Alexandra Leggio tallied her first of the season and was aided by a pair of man-up goals in the third to keep the hosts at bay. However, there was a green card assessed to Rory Meehan that put the home team up and in a position to net the equalizer at 9-9 at the conclusion of the frame.
  • A trio of goals from both sides in the fourth - which included a man-up goal for Florida Tech with 1:32 left in regulation - sent the teams to overtime. A scoreless first overtime period, highlighted by a save from each goalie, put another 5:00 minutes on the clock.
  • After winning the draw, Tech used a wrap around goal from Abby Cudzilo to send no. 2 Adelphi away. Despite a first quarter advantage for Adelphi, Florida Tech managed to hold a commanding 18-9 edge in draw controls, including the final draw of the game in double overtime.
