Goodrich Records Fourth Multi-Goal Game, Women's Soccer Loses 4-2 to Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. – Head coach Brooke DeRosa and the Adelphi women's soccer team took a quick trip up to Pace on Tuesday night for their third conference game in six days.

Series History:

  • Adelphi (4-4-1, 1-3-0 NE10) moves to 14-4 against Pace since September 2009, snapping a four-game winning streak that dated back to 2022. The last matchup was a 1-0 Panther win on November 5, 2005, when Dylann Trahey scored the game-winner.

Highlights:

How It Happened:

  • Goodrich got the game off to a fast start, recording the first shot less than a minute into the match.
  • Although the Panthers had the first shot, it was Pace who took an early lead in the eighth minute.
  • Adelphi came storming back minutes later to tie the game at one.
  • After a throw-in, Solari sent a perfect through ball to Goodrich, who cut to her left, beat a Pace defender and potted the ball in the back of the net.
  • Tied at one, Goodrich and Solari tried to give Adelphi a lead but were stopped by the Pace defense.
  • The Setters came down the field with an attack of their own and gained the lead in the 28th minute after some bounces did not go the Panthers' way.
  • Seconds later, disaster struck for Adelphi. Pace went right down the field after taking the ball away, and another funky play left a loose ball on the doorstep, which the Setters capitalized on for a 3-1 lead.
  • Less than two minutes later, however, Goodrich came through again for the Panthers.
  • After Giavanna Meservy sent a ball to the senior, she deked past multiple defenders and then beat the keeper to cut the deficit to one.
  • Pace had a few more chances to end the half, but Catalanotti kept the score at 3-2 heading into the break.
  • In the opening 20 minutes of the second half, Adelphi outshot the Panthers eight to two, but its woes finding the back of the net continued.
  • In the 70th minute, Juliana Procopio entered for the Setters and scored just 50 seconds later, doubling the hometown lead.
  • Adelphi kept up the offensive pressure but just could not find any goals, even with four straight corner kicks.
  • Although they outshot Pace 22-13 and had nine corner kicks to the Setters' one, the Panthers fell 4-2.
