Garden City, N.Y. – Arriving on campus this summer, women's bowling's Mya Conway is already making a name for herself, as she will be participating in the 2026 International Bowling Federation World Cup as a member of Team Canada.
Hailing from Thorold, Canada, Conway is one of the four best female amateur bowlers in the country as she heads to Munich, Germany, for the World Cup, beginning on Oct. 14.
The IBF World Cup is an amateur bowling tournament that has taken place almost every year since 1965.
There are three stages before the knockout rounds. Stage one consists of a qualifying round of 24 games based on total pinfall, with the 24 best bowlers advancing to stage two and their pinfall carrying over. In stage two, eight more games are played, with the top eight bowlers advancing to stage three. Stage three whittles the field down to four, where the knockout rounds begin. The No. 1 and No. 4 seeds, as well as the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, face off head-to-head for a chance to reach the final.
Conway is the first-ever Adelphi bowler to participate in the IBF World Cup. She is currently placed in Group B, Pool Two, facing off against bowlers from Türkiye, Germany, Greece, Sweden, Macau, Australia, Kuwait, Slovakia, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore and the Netherlands.
