North Attleboro, Mass. – Adelphi field hockey's Lana Mignon De Wet and Allison Gregory earned Northeast 10 Conference weekly honors, being named Player and Goalie of the Week, announced Monday afternoon.
As a team, the Panthers went 2-0 last week, earning a narrow one goal victory over Pace University on Wednesday, followed by a 2-0 win against No. 10 Southern New Hampshire University.
The Brown and Gold were led offensively by De Wet, who either scored or assisted in both contests. Most notably, she netted the opening goal against SNHU — the eventual game-winner. The dynamic midfielder displayed her two-way prowess by forcing a turnover, then carrying the ball from the 25-yard line into the scoring circle before sending a strike past the keeper.
On the defensive end, Gregory served as a stalwart in net, allowing just one goal across the two games. The junior played all 120 minutes in goal for the Panthers, making six saves in each contest and delivering clutch stops throughout. Her efforts secured both wins and marked her first shutout of the season, coming against a high-powered SNHU offense riding a five-game win streak.
De Wet, Gregory, and the Panthers return to action this Tuesday, Sept. 30, when they take on Mercy University. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Motamed Field. The team will also be supporting the Stephen Siller Foundation and Tunnel to Towers.
