Garden City, N.Y. — After swiftly winning its first match of the season against Assumption, the Adelphi women's tennis team returned to the hard court on Saturday morning for the 2025-26 home opener against Franklin Pierce.
The Panthers got off to a roaring start with no. two doubles pairing Zuzanna Witkowska and Oda Solevag Halvorsen making quick work of their opponents in a 6-0 win.
Katarina Liedbeck and Roisin Boyd continued their stellar start to the season with a 6-2 doubles victory and the duo of Genesis Beltran and Sara Lindeman competed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win themselves.
In singles play, Witkowska picked up right where she left off, dominating her opponent in the no. three flight and winning the match 6-0, 6-1.
On the far end of the court, Roisin Boyd took care of business in the no. four match with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
The Ravens earned their first point of the day after a hard fought no. two singles match but that would be all they picked up as Lindeman, Beltran and Liedbeck mowed down the competition to give Adelphi a 6-1 win and 2-0 start to conference play.
Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Panthers will return on Friday for the ITA East Region Championships at the USTA National Tennis Center.
