Liedbeck and Boyd Regain ITA East Region Doubles Crown

9/29/2025 3:30:00 PM

Flushing, N.Y. — After narrowly missing out on back-to-back ITA East Region doubles titles last year, Katarina Liedbeck and Roisin Boyd were back in the final on Monday afternoon.

To reach their third straight championship match, the pair earned a first round bye before winning a tight 8-5 round of 32 match. From there, Liedbeck and Boyd went on an absolute tear, only dropping five games in three matches. Taking on eight seed Sixtine Goubet and Lilie Bizouerene from Queens in the final, the top seeded Panthers opened up the match playing loose, not letting any pressure get to them. It paid dividends as they gained an early lead. Liedbeck and Boyd attacked their opponents, forcing the Knights to respond with defensive shots. The strategy worked as Adelphi took the first set, 6-3 and had all of the momentum heading into set number two.

Excellent shot making and an attacking mindset continued to be the name of the game for the Cats. Whenever it seemed like Queens was gaining some ground, Liedbeck and Boyd would respond with a big shot. Up 5-3 in the second set with just a game needed to regain the crown, the Adelphi duo stepped up and earned a break point to win the title.

In singles play, Boyd (12 seed), Liedbeck (two seed), Zuzanna Witkowska (six seed), Oda Solevag Halvorsen (11 seed) and Sara Lindeman all reached the round of 32 with Boyd and Witkowska advancing the furthest of the bunch into the quarterfinals.

The pair of Lindeman and Genesis Beltran had a successful doubles tournament, reaching the quarterfinals and upsetting the number two overall seed from Wilmington (Del.) before falling to the eventual runners-up from Queens.

Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Panthers will return to the court on Saturday when they head up to Saint Anselm for an NE10 clash.
