Men’s Tennis Earns First NE10 Win Over Franklin Pierce, 5-2

Garden City, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team returned to the court on Saturday afternoon for a rematch of the 2024-25 Northeast 10 Championship against Franklin Pierce.

An injury forced Fakas to rearrange some of the doubles flights but it worked out beautifully. The no. three pairing of Viktor Hockl and Elouan Boyer made quick work of their opponents with a 6-2 win to give the Panthers momentum.

After falling behind, Spyrdion Papageorgiou and Leo Silverston put together a nice performance, knocking off the Ravens 6-3 and earning the first point of the day for Adelphi. Louca Bertone and Thomas Horsley would complete the sweep with a 6-4 win in the no. one match.

Bertone kept the good times rolling with a quick 6-0, 6-2 win in his singles match. His doubles partner Thomas Horsley was not fair behind, with a 6-3, 7-5 win himself.

Hockl sealed victory for the Panthers after battling in his first set and then dominating in set two, putting together a 7-5, 6-1 win. The Ravens would win the no. three and no. five matches with Arturo Beitman ending the day with a 6-1, 6-1 no. six win, earning Adelphi a 5-2 victory.

Fakas and the Cats will return the court on Friday for the ITA East Region Championship at the USTA National Tennis Center.
