Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Holt Scores First Career Goal, Men’s Soccer Drops Game to No. 18 East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. — Head coach Gary Book and the Adelphi men's soccer team traveled up to the Keystone State on Sunday afternoon to take on nationally ranked East Stroudsburg.

The first ten minutes of the match were slow with the Warriors earning the first corner kick and shot attempt of the day. Adelphi responded with a counter attack, spreading the ball out and getting Matthew Murphy out wide. The sophomore got to the corner and sent the ball towards the far post where it found Ryan Holt who tapped the ball home for the first goal of his collegiate career and a 1-0 Panther lead.

East Stroudsburg quickly responded, putting the pressure on Adelphi's defense. They continued to push the ball up and while the Panthers were able to keep the lead, the Warriors came through with just one second left in the first half to tie the game.

The second half did not see a ton of offense in the first couple of minutes but East Stroudsburg found a way to get by the Adelphi defense and go up 2-1.

In response, Adelphi made a pair of substitutions to inject some life into the offense. Richard DeBrosse and Gonzalo Gil had chances to score but could not beat the Warrior keeper.

Despite the Panthers attempts at offense, they could not come through and ultimately fell 2-1.

The Panthers will return to field on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for their home opener at Motamed Field against Molloy.
