St. Cloud, Minn. - With a quick turnaround, the Adelphi University volleyball program delivered a strong serving performance en route to a three-set rout of Northern Michigan on Friday morning, inside Halenbeck Hall. In the second game of the day, the Panthers were overwhelmed by Minnesota Duluth on their home court, suffering a sweep to move to 1-2 at the UP North Tournament.
The Panthers posted a season high 13 service aces against the Wildcats, with Ana Westerich posting a team-best four. She also notched her third double-double of the season with 32 assists and 10 digs.
Macarty McQueen led the offense with 12 kills, and
Mackenzie Casey chipped in six with just one error in the first match of the day.
From the opening whistle, UMD established control in the nightcap—winning the first set 25-15 after early offense and stiff resistance at the net. For the contest, the Bulldogs totaled nine total blocks and racked up 39 kills on 81 attempts, compared to Adelphi's 17 kills. Despite serving outstanding in the first game of the day, the Panthers were stifled with 10 service aces from Duluth players, as the team from the East Coast only managed a pair of aces themselves.
Adelphi closes out it's Minnesota tour on Saturday, Sept. 13 with its last match of the UP North Tournament against Michigan Tech at 9:30 a.m. (CST) inside Romano Gymnasium on the campu sof Minnesota Duluth.
