Farmingdale, N.Y. — After a site change due to weather, head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team took on Farmingdale State for their season opener on Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers started the day off hot, only dropping two games in doubles play to earn the first point after some dominant play from Thomas Horsley, Louca Bertone, Andrea Albiero, Viktor Hockl, Arturo Beitman and Matias Hoyos.
Adelphi carried that momentum into singles play with Hockl, Horsley and Elouan Boyer sealing a victory after losing only three combined games. Bertone, Albiero and Leo Silverston controlled their matches throughout with all three winning in two sets and completing the 7-0 sweep.
The Panthers will return to the court on Saturday when they travel up to Assumption for a match at 1 p.m.
