Worcester, Mass. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team played in their regular season finale on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Assumption for a conference matchup.
The day began with a 6-1 doubles win from Marko Jovanovic and Spyridon Papageorgiou but the Greyhounds came back with a victory to make it even. The Panther no. 1 pairing of Reece Farrow and Hugo Munoz Reinoso then earned a clutch 6-3 win to gain the Cats the first point of the day.
Jovanovic continued to be red hot, winning his no. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Rodrigo Ochoa then earned a 6-1, 6-3 win firmly putting Adelphi in the drivers' seat. Spyridon Papageorgiou won 6-1, 6-2 and Yannick Stolz was victorious in the no. 6 match 6-4, 6-0 as the Panthers took home a 6-1 team win.
With the victory, the Adelphi men's tennis team clinched the number one overall seed in the Northeast-10 Championship and will face #4 Assumption in the semifinal on Saturday at the USTA Tennis Center. Start time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
