Flushing, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the #1 seeded Adelphi men's tennis team began their journey for back-to-back Northeast-10 titles on Saturday morning when they took on #4 Assumption.
The Cats got off to a fast start in the doubles portion of the match with NE10 player of the year Marko Jovanovic and first-team selection Spyridon Papageorgiou dominating their no. 2 counterparts, 6-1. Reece Farrow and Hugo Munoz Reinoso quickly dispatched their no. 1 pairing opponents, 6-2 to earn the Panthers the first point of the match.
Papageorgiou kept momentum going into his singles match, only losing two games in his 6-0, 6-4 victory.
All-NE10 first team selection Rodrigo Ochoa was dominant in the no. 6 singles match, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win and put the pressure on the Greyhounds.
Louca Bertone fought through the first set in his no. 2 match and earned the Panthers a 4-0 sweep after taking his match 7-5, 6-2.
Adelphi will return to the court tomorrow at noon for the NE10 Finals.
