Mansfield, Mass. - Three major awards, 12 All-Conference team selections and a pair of All-Rookie honors sums up the conference award season for Adelphi men's lacrosse, as the Northeast-10 Conference announced the news on Friday.
Braden Donnellan becomes the second consecutive Adelphi player to earn Player of the Year, following
Dylan Renner's award from a season ago. He currently leads both Division I and II in total points, and is eyeing Panther records after just two seasons with the Cats. Renner is no stranger to major award recognition, picking up his third Goalkeeper of the Year honor - becoming the first player to win for three straight seasons since Le Moyne's Jared Corcoran, who won four times from 2004 to 2007. The graduate student was also last season's Division II overall Most Outstanding Player en route to the national title.
Rounding out the major awards is Adelphi newcomer
Ries Bower, who wins the league's top defensive honor a year after claiming co-Rookie of the Year with longtime friend Carter Linkletter at AIC. A year after setting the DII record for single-season caused turnovers, Bower continued his dominance, playing both close defense and LSM this year. The trio of major award winners are also recognized as First Team All-Conference honorees.
Adelphi leads the way with 12 All-Conference selections and two All-Rookie nods.
Kyle Lewis,
Michael D'Alessandro and
Nick O'shea are all First Team honorees - the former doubling up on the recognition from last season.
New to Garden City,
Noah Gibson lands Second Team honors after his previous NE10 Rookie of the Year recognition while at the College of Saint Rose. He currently leads the Panthers in scoring with 49 goals - almost double-figures higher than the next.
Ryan Bauco,
Kevin Groom and
Ryan Durnin all join Gibson on the Second Team for a total of four from the Panther ranks.
Second in scoring on the team with 40 goals, sophomore
Michael Durnin picks up a spot at attack on the Third Team and is joined by
Frank Falco at the SSDM position.
Finally,
Michael Hendrickson and
William Greaves both earn inclusion on the All-Rookie squad. The duo have put up impressive numbers at X for Adelphi - considering the team saw seven different players in the role a season ago, all the way to the National Championship title.
Adelphi picks up a first round bye, by way of earning the no. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The squad also appears at the no. 2 spot in the North Region for the regional rankings. They will host the winner of #6 Southern New Hampshire and #3 Pace University on Wednesday, April 30 in the conference semifinals.
