Sparkill, N.Y. — Head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team took a break from Northeast-10 play on Thursday afternoon when they took on nearby St. Thomas Aquinas.
The Spartans and Panthers split the first two doubles matches with Marko Jovanovic and Spyridon Papageorgiou taking their contest, 7-5. Unfortunately for the Cats, STAC took the final match and earned the first point of the day.
St. Thomas Aquinas carried its momentum into the singles portion of the day, quickly taking the no. 3 singles match. Jovanovic and Louca Bertone battled to get Adelphi back into it, winning their respective no. 1 and no. 2 contests.
Unfortunately for the Brown and Gold, those two points would be all they could muster as the Spartans won the remaining three matches, all in very close fashion, and came away with a 5-2 victory.
The Panthers will return to the court on Saturday at 11 a.m. for Senior Day against Saint Michael's.
