Garden City, N.Y. — After a convincing victory on Saturday, head coach Rebecca Fakas and the Adelphi men's tennis team return to Garden City on Thursday afternoon to host Franklin Pierce in a battle of the top teams in the Northeast-10.
The Ravens got off to a hot start, narrowly sweeping all three doubles matches to snatch the first point.
Adelphi would need to quickly gain points back and that is exactly what it was able to do. Andrea Albiero won the no. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-3 followed by a no. 1 victory from Marko Jovanovic 6-3, 6-4.
Franklin Pierce would win the next to matches to take a 3-2 lead and it would be down to the no. 5 and 6 matches featuring Spyridon Papageorgiou and Reece Farrow.
Papageorgoiou took the first two games of his match and it was smooth sailing from there as he was victorious 6-2, 6-3.
Farrow was locked into a back and forth battle with his Raven counterpart, but cooler heads prevailed as the Panther senior sealed the final point for the Brown and Gold with a 7-5, 6-4 win.
The 4-3 victory moved Adelphi to 11-4, 6-1 NE10. The team will return to the court on Tuesday at 3:00 PM when they travel up to Assumption.
