Offensive Outburst Powers #2 Adelphi Over Dominican, 24-7

Irvine, Calif. – With the help of six goals from Noah Gibson, the No. 2 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team rolled to a 24-7 victory against Dominican University of California on Saturday.

A complete turnaround from Thursday night's downpour, the offensive onslaught from Adelphi (5-0) never let up in the program's first-ever meeting with the Penguins. Noah Gibson led the Cats with a season-best six goals, while Michael Durnin and Braden Donnellan each recorded hat tricks in the win.

Adelphi's 22 shots in the opening quarter found the back of the net 10 times, immediately putting the Penguins in catch-up mode. Michael Hendrickson went 14-for-16 at the faceoff X, while Kyle Stark won 50 percent of his attempts, giving the offense plenty of opportunities to score.

It took nearly 30 minutes, but Dominican finally got on the board with 2:38 remaining in the second quarter. By that point, Adelphi had already built a 17-goal cushion, with tallies from six different scorers. The defense also played a crucial role, holding Dominican to just seven goals for the game.

Despite a third frame in which the Penguins outscored the Panthers 2-1, the team from the east saw a 6-4 fourth, which included goals from several first year players. It also marked season-first tallies from Arden Watson, James Hegel and Jack Reiser.

Adelphi will continue its road trip, facing No. 14 Rollins College on March 10 at Golden Eagles Field. The last time Adelphi lost a game was on March 9, 2024—against the Tars on Motamed Field.
