Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

#2 Men's Lax Adds to Streak, Tops CUI in Cali Opener, 15-7

Irvine, Calif. – Under open skies, the No. 2 Adelphi University men's lacrosse team extended its win streak to 19 games with a 15-7 victory over Concordia Irvine on Thursday evening.

Benefiting from favorable weather conditions, the Panthers (4-0) saw six different players contribute to the scoreboard, led by Braden Donnellan's career-high five goals. He finished the game with eight total points, adding three assists, while junior Kyle Lewis and Michael Durnin each recorded hat tricks.

Despite an evenly matched offensive effort (shots stood at a 30-28 advantage for Adelphi), the Panthers found ways to break past Golden Eagles' netminder Joey Heckel early and often.

The opening half saw the visiting team from the East net five goals in each quarter, while the hosts, playing their home opener, managed just one goal per frame. Donnellan opened the scoring for the Panthers five minutes in, but it was Kyle Lewis's trio of goals that put the Golden Eagles on the back foot.

Donnellan assisted Noah Gibson's goal to close out the second quarter, with Adelphi maintaining an eight-goal lead at halftime.

Defensively, Ries Bower was a force to be reckoned with, posting a season-high five caused turnovers.

Adelphi added another five goals in the third quarter, courtesy of contributions from a trio of sophomores. Despite their offensive efforts, the Panthers were held scoreless in the final frame.

Between the pipes, Dylan Renner tallied eight saves, including four in the final 15 minutes of play.

Adelphi remains out west for its next matchup, a first-time meeting against Dominican University of California on Saturday, March 8. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. ET).
