Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Durnin's Eight Point Game Leads in Men's Lacrosse 27-5 Rout of SNHU

Garden City, N.Y - An 11-goal first quarter powered the no. 2 Adelphi University men's lacrosse program to a 27-5 victory over Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, extending its win streak to 10 this season and 24 overall dating back to last March.

Michael Durnin poured in a career-high eight points as he scored five times and added three helpers, while teammate Noah Gibson eyed his career-mark with seven points. Braden Donnellan took a break from scoring but still added six points courtesy of one goal and five assists.

Adelphi (9-0, 3-0 NE10) came out of the gates strong with four straight goals in the first four minutes of the matchup. A penalty made way for the Penmen to score in a man-up situation, but the home team added another five before SNHU found it's next offensive possession. The Panther defense was all over the ball, forcing five turnovers in the opening frame alone.

Colin Hansen scored his first goal of the season in the next seven-goal stretch for the 'Cats, marking one of three he scored in the contest. Southern New Hampshire was held scoreless over more than 10 minutes, but broke the silence on a breakaway following a faceoff win for the Penmen.

Overall, Adelphi went 23-for-36 at the X, led by freshman Michael Hendrickson, who put together an 11-for-16 clip. The Panthers added seven in the second and another seven in the third, keeping its opponent in single digit scoring. All three netminders found time between the pipes, combining for five saves and only five goals allowed.

The 27 goals falls just shy of the single-game record of 28 (1967 vs. Hartwick, 1980 vs. Kutztown, 1993 vs. West Chester) but the 48 points is a new program mark (beating the previously set record of 46).

The team is back in action on Saturday, April 5 to take on one of the last three undefeated programs in Division II, Saint Anselm College. The Panthers join the Hawks and the University of Tampa Spartans with a perfect win percentage in 2025. The last time the two teams met, Adelphi took a 12-9 decision, punching its ticket to the National Championship game.
