Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Returns to Win Column at Saint Michael's

Colchester, VT - With less than two days rest, the Adelpi University women's lacrosse team got back to work on Friday against St. Michael's College, securing a 19-7 victory ahead of inclement weather.

In a game that was originally supposed to be played on Saturday, the Panthers (8-3, 4-1 NE10) bounced back from their four-goal loss to Pace on Wednesday to keep the Purple Knights winless in conference play.

Marielle Colalillo and Alexandra Leggion were both responsible for six-point performances as six others registered goals in the win, including hat tricks from Ashley Kolomechuk and Payson Hedges

After the visitors jumped out to a quick two goal lead, the hosts managed to bring the game even at three-all with 8:13 left in the opening quarter. Hedges' first goal of the afternoon was enough to spark a seven-goal run for Adelphi that carried over into the second frame, as the Panthers found themselves ahead 10-3.

Allowing just one goal in the second, the visiting team tacked on another five goals and moved into running time before the halftime break.

Relieving starter Madison Marchetta between the pipes, Jillian McFadden recorded nine saves on 14 shots (10 on goal) allowing just one within 15 minutes of work. Heading into the final quarter of regulation, Adelphi held on to a 17-5 advantage. Newcomer Regan Morra added her second career goal in the finale, as the teams played to an even frame.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 5, celebrating its senior class before the 1:00 p.m. matchup against Saint Anselm College.
