Garden City, N.Y. - A five-goal second quarter was all that no. 2 Adelphi men's lacrosse needed to stave of no. 11 Bentley on Sunday, to improve to 9-0 overall and remain undefeated in 2025.
Braden Donnellan led the Panther offense with a game-high six-point performance, courtesy of a hat trick and a trio of helpers. Defensively, the Cats were led by
Ries Bower who accounted for three caused turnovers while
Michael D'Alessandro and
Gavin Herzog also each contributed a pair.
It was a tight start for the home team, who trailed 2-1 after the opening quarter. Bentley's defense cause two different shot clock violations for the Panthers, as Falcon netminder Ryan Bordiere picked up four of his 12 saves through the first 15 minutes of conference action. Bentley managed to hold Adelphi scoreless for nearly 13 minutes but could also not run up the score due to
Dylan Renner between the pipes.
After taking a one-goal lead, the teams traded tallies but it was
Vincent McDermott's strike at 2:00 that sparked a five-goal run in favor of the hosts. Donnellan's hat trick goal made it a 9-4 contest with six minutes left in the third. Bentley found the back of the cage only once in the third and twice in the fourth, but ultimately ran out of time to stage a comeback.
The Panthers host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Mar. 29 at 5:00 p.m. and welcome back it's alumni for the game.
